Privacy policy

Last updated: September 2026

This policy explains what happens to your data when you use Satzbaum (www.satzbaum.com). In short: the site sets no cookies, the sentences you enter are processed only to translate and analyse them, and your settings and history stay in your browser.

Who is responsible

Suncook Knowledge Systems, LLC, 221 Main St, Ste N, Nashua, NH 03060, USA. Email: support@satzbaum.com.

When you visit the site

Satzbaum is hosted by Vercel Inc. (USA). To deliver the site, Vercel processes your IP address, the time of the request, the page requested and your browser’s user agent in its server logs. These logs are kept only briefly and help keep the service secure; for example, our firewall counts requests per IP address to stop abuse. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure, reliable service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

The sentences you enter

To translate and analyse a sentence, your browser sends it to our server, which passes it on to:

  • satzklar, our translation and grammar-analysis service (hosted by Vercel). It uses AI models from Anthropic for translations and dictionary entries, and its own grammar models, run on Cloudflare, for the grammar trees.
  • Vercel’s AI Gateway, which sends the sentence and its translation to Google (Gemini) or, as a fallback, Anthropic (Claude) to find the connections in meaning between the two trees.

Words you click are looked up the same way. To answer repeat requests quickly, we cache sentences, translations and analyses: in memory for up to 24 hours, and in our cache database (Upstash) for up to 12 months. These entries are not linked to you.

Please don’t enter personal information, such as names, addresses or health details. Legal basis: providing the service you ask for (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and our legitimate interest in providing it efficiently (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Settings stored in your browser

Satzbaum sets no cookies. It saves your interface language, colour theme, grammar-term setting and a history of your last 20 sentences in your browser’s local storage, so they’re still there next time. This data never leaves your device. You can clear the history in the history panel, and remove everything through your browser settings. Storing it is strictly necessary for the features you use (Art. 5(3) ePrivacy Directive).

Usage statistics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It works without cookies and stores nothing on your device, and we only see aggregate figures, such as page views, countries and browsers, not individual visitors. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Share links

When you share a sentence, it is stored in the link itself, after the # sign. Browsers don’t send that part to our server, but anyone you give the link to can read the sentence.

Recipients and transfers outside the EU

We are based in the USA, and the providers named above (Vercel, Upstash, Cloudflare, Google and Anthropic) process data in the USA and other countries. Where a provider is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, transfers rely on that; otherwise, on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability (Art. 15–21 GDPR). To use these rights, email support@satzbaum.com. You can also complain to a data-protection supervisory authority, for example in the EU country where you live. Because we don’t store data that identifies you, we usually can’t find your entries, but we’ll help where we can.
